Beverages: From cocktails to wine, cider to true spirits, Curated Properties guests have so many options!
Appalachian Heritage Distillery & Brewery
https://www.ahddamascus.com/
The Distillery has become very popular with tourists and locals alike for their locally distilled spirits infused into cocktails in their tasting room. A moody tasting room that doubles as a music venue, lounge, and ABC store during the day. The reviews are in-it's awesome. Added benefit, you can watch Appalachian Trail 'through hikers' pass by on the sideway-which doubles as the trail itself-through town!
Foresta
With creative interiors and cocktails and their Asian fusion menu, there so so much to explore at Foresta! My favorite reason to visit Foresta is to enjoy a creative cocktail at the bar and meet people from near and far!! And, you can sit and eat dinner or apps there too.
Sweetbay Brewing Company
Fun indoor and outdoor venue to enjoy locally brewed beer and listen to music (some nights), and enjoy a vintage building with good locally brewed beers.
Tumbling Creek Cider Company - Taproom
Folks, this is not your grocery store cider by any stretch of the imagination!! Very creative ciders that are not 'sweet' unless you want it to be. I recommend ordering a tasting flight and try a variety of ciders against each other! Share with the tap-tender what you like, sweet or dry, fruity or not and allow them to give you small sip tastings to start.
Located in a creative multi-business reuse of a former bank, Tumbling Creek keeps amazing visitors and winning awards with their amazing selection of locally brewed ciders. With their ongoing roll-outs of new cider flavors - it's a must-stop and only a mile from The Nest and The Oasis!
Elevated Dinner Locations: Restaurants with high quality foods, beautifully prepared, and professionally served.
The Tavern
In continuous operation since the late 1700's, in some way or fashion, the Tavern's great food, service, and beverage options only enhance the centuries old interior. With the original floors sloping from the center, narrow stairs to the second floor seating and deck you can truly appreciate the beauty of its patina. With a giant back patio and a second bar, it's a wonderful place to be outside with great food, garden surroundings, and unwind and people watch! The Tavern is a walking distance of one mile (with hills) from The Nest if you choose to walk there or home.
128 Pecan
Jack's 128 Pecan is one of a kind! Great food (slightly higher prices) but very good! Super popular and busy, you'll want to arrive early as there is limited seating and limited in-restaurant waiting. You can also put your name on the list and walk up to Foresta for a cocktail while you wait!
Foresta
Foresta' was nominated for USA Today's 'Best New Restaurant'. With an updated take on a variety of Asian-influenced menu items, guests can partake in small plates or full dinners! The incredibly creative and fanciful interiors take you off to another world, Alice in Wonderland perhaps! Excellent and creative cocktails and food. We love sitting at the bar enjoying one of Zane Triplett's creative cocktails and entertainment style and meeting new people from around the area and the US!
My favorite reason to visit Foresta is to enjoy a creative cocktail at the bar and meet people from near and far!! And, you can sit and eat dinner or apps there too.
Summers Roof and Cellar
With their roof top bar and outdoor seating (weather dependent) Summers has a unique perspective of the area. Enjoy your favorite cocktail, appetizers, or a full dinner menu. We suggest reserving ahead of time if you don't have schedule flexibility.
Great Food for a Moderate Investment:
White Birch Food and Juice (scroll down on website to find their menu):
White Birch is a one mile walk (with hills) from your stay. They have creative breakfast and lunch menu served all week. With both creative espresso beverages as well as cocktails, you can enjoy a full-service breakfast experience at White Birch...and great juices too!
This is MY go-to breakfast spot in Abingdon, food is always great, servers personable and friendly, and I'm addicted to their Golden Milk Latte. And, White Birch has vegan options!
Greeko’s Grill & Café
Great Greek food in the middle of Appalachia! With a broad menu and great food it's hard not to find something for everyone at Greekos! The menu portions are large on most items and well priced. Mustafa also carries a beautiful selection of desserts! There is inside and outdoor dining as well as a drive through pick-up window for orders called in ahead. Moderately priced, this is a great spot to either eat in or take out and bring back to the property!
JJ's Restaurant and Sports Bar
With good food and TV's with sports and other fun entertainment all around you can enjoy good cocktails, beers on tap, wine, and watch your favorite sports! They have an active take-out scene, call ahead and you can walk in to pick-up if you've had a long day on the trail or biking and just want to relax 'at home'!
Puerto Nuevo Fresh Mex & Seafood Abingdon VA
With limited 'really good' Mexican food offerings in the area as a whole, Puerto Nuevo stands above the others! A spacious restaurant with high ceilings, booths, open tables, and outdoor seating in season it's a fun place to visit. Able to hold large parties as well as small in the main restaurant they are incredibly popular most days of the week. Food portions are large, prices reasonable, and the food is good! With a full and large open bar, you can also eat dinner you can watch games on TV or the other patrons-dealer's choice! They have a large salsa bar and a table-side guacamole maker...both are do not miss!
Delta Blues BBQ - Abingdon
Great barbeque of all types in a fun and funky environment! I'm a huge fan of their chicken wings with all the various spice options. They have a great selection of sides to add including potato fries that are yummy! Seasonally you can dine inside or out and catch live music (check their schedule).
Papa Julio’s
Great all around food options for good prices and beside the town's movie theater!
Dwyane and Company
266 E Main St, Abingdon, VA 24210, USA
Dwyane and Company is a walk up eatery specializing in dine-in restaurant quality food for lunch. Located in a recently renovated old house right in the thick of my favorite part of Abingdon (Court Street & Main) you'll find re-imagined Southern favorites!
Coffee and Tea Shops:
Abingdon is home to great locally roasted coffee (and some non-local) and hand-gathered and blended teas, roughly 3 minutes from your stay! Each are wonderful to stop in, pull-up a seat, and enjoy the taste and experience while enjoying the local atmosphere inside or out (seasonally).
Rendezvous International Cafe
With excellent Italian coffee beans, handmade crepes, pastries, and other special treats, The Rendezvous International Café is a great stopping spot while wandering through shops on Main Street.
Girl & The Raven
Great atmosphere, good food, and wonderful coffee located in a renovated house with all kinds of character! Try them for breakfast or a coffee to reenergize for the afternoon!
Wolf Hills Coffee
Located in a turn of the century building, Wolf Hills Coffee boasts tall glass windows, intimate booths, and table seating to allow you to enjoy their locally roasted coffee, hand-blended teas, and food items. Also enjoy cocktails both inside and outside on their back patio!
Art & Artists, Collections and More:
The Arts Depot
This cool converted train depot includes artists studios, multiple galleries, and a variety of changing shows elevating local regional talent! As an avid and long-time art collector, this is my first stop! There is so much creativity and a unique historic building (trains still rush by) thart I consider it a must-see even if you aren't 'avid'.
William King Museum of Art
Currently growing to house a new collection this 'small' but mighty museum is able to attract surprisingly diverse shows that might otherwise pass by Abingdon. Add to this the beautifully curated shows they develop as well as their own legacy collection on permanent display and it is a perfect place for a rainy or cold day. On the lower floor and in the Space Labs building beside the main building there are artist-in-residence studios, some with art for sale.
